In case you haven’t seen my Instagram and my Instagram reveal, I’m pregnant!
I’m currently 24 weeks now and my husband and I couldn’t be happier! While being pregnant is such a blessing, there’s honestly so much that goes into it. A lot of my followers and friends who have never been pregnant have so many questions about pregnancy that I thought it would be fun to do a Q+A blog post! Let me know your thoughts and what other pregnancy/non-pregnancy posts you would like to see on here.

  1. What are you having? Do you have any names?

We’re having a boy and we couldn’t be anymore excited! We actually both secretly wanted a boy, but we just didn’t want to get our hopes up.  Honestly, I’m sure we would’ve been happy with either a boy or girl! We CONSTANTLY go through names, it’s annoying. We initially never had any planned names so this is quite brutal. We have a couple of contenders now, but I still want to keep it a secret! There’s so many websites and apps that have thousands of names to choose from, even Pinterest.

  2. What pregnancy apps are you currently using?

Before I was pregnant, I was using Glow which helped track my cycle and ovulation. I found it helpful because I was getting off the pill. Like any of these type of apps, there’s forums and groups that share relatable experiences from normal people who are just like you. Since I’ve been pregnant, I’ve been using What to Expect and Baby Center per recommendation from my OB-GYN. You can create a profile, put your due date and information, and it keeps track of how far along you are and fun information every week. These also have great articles and forums too. The only CON about these apps are the fact that you can read TONS of stuff that can make you paranoid about everything. I get super paranoid so if you’re like me, I suggest not reading too much. haha

  3. How much weight are you gaining? Do you exercise?

I feel really big now. haha But apparently I’m right on track. Depending on your pre-pregnancy weight and height, there’s an average minimum of how much weight you should at least gain. Pre-pregnancy I weighed anywhere from 108 lbs to 113lbs. I honestly don’t know how much I actually weighed before pregnancy because I barely checked. The minimum I have to gain during pregnancy is at least 25 lbs. I’ll be going to the doctor this week so I’ll have to update on where I am now! Currently, I’m not exercising and just doing at-home stretches. They say if you worked out before you were pregnant regularly, continue to do so. I honestly went off the wagon before I was pregnant so I haven’t been getting back to shape. I definitely will after, but so many things are going on that I honestly just want to relax. Don’t let my bad habits deter you from working out though! It’s so good for you and the baby!

  4. How did you find out or realize you were pregnant?

The week I was supposed to start my cycle, I felt super sick! It was as if I caught the flu, but nothing was making me feel better. My head hurt so bad and I was like WTF! I also didn’t like what I was eating or just didn’t want to eat at all. I even tried doing yoga that week because I thought I just had too much tension and stress. We were just closing on our house that same week so I thought maybe all my stress had got to me. Well nope! Preggo it is!

  5. What kind of body changes are you going through? Do you have mood swings? Food cravings?

Oh geez, so many! The first trimester, my hormones were all over the place so I broke out like a teenager going through puberty! Ah! I broke out on my face, my back, and chest. It was awful! And honestly, you can’t really do too much about it. Your first trimester is so crucial, so you just have to be super careful about what goes on/in your body. Now that I’m in my second trimester, it’s a lot better, but I still have other body changes. I’ve developed eczema on random parts of my skin (i’ve never had eczema before). Also, I got broken capillaries on my face and hands. I have no clue why but you can get them layered off, just not during pregnancy. 🙁 Other body changes I’m facing are swollen hands and feet depending on the time of the day. Oh and leg and foot cramps! Those are THE WORST! As far as mood swings, I think that’s inevitable. You’re just less patient being pregnant and honestly just don’t want to deal. It also get’s harder to just physically move around so I feel like that makes me irritable too. As far as food cravings, my first trimester all I wanted to eat was ramen and pho. I generally eat a lot of noodles pre-pregnancy so I think my body just wanted something that was easy to go down. Now, I crave everything except for some reason I can’t stand hamburgers! So weird! I used to love hamburgers. There’s some days where I crave a certain meal, and my poor husband has been so nice about it.

  6. How does pregnancy affect your sleep?

Oh man, this one sucks for me. If you don’t already know, you have to sleep on your side. I’ve been so used to sleeping on my back and on my stomach my whole life that this is such an adjustment for me. Sometimes I sleep well and sometimes I don’t. They say sleeping on your side is best, preferably your left side because it increases blood flow and nutrients to your placenta and baby. Weird right? When I started sleeping on my side, I actually had to start putting my hair above my pillow and avoid putting facial oils at night because I started breaking out on the side of my face. I change my pillow case now about every other day. My pregnancy pillow also helps too! Mine is from Boppy, but there’s a bunch on Amazon too. They are humongous by the way! Obnoxious actually. And it’s hard when you want to switch positions or get up to pee. That being said, they do help and benefit you to sleep better.

  7. What are you doing to prepare for the baby? How do you deal with all the advice given to you?

The answer is A LOT. For a first time mom, you’re literally starting from scratch. I’ve literally searched everything and read tons of reviews for different products. I also find asking friends or family for advice is really great too. Although each person has their own different way of doing things and different opinions, it’s still good to ask and see what’s best for you. I think the best thing you can do is ask people what necessities you really need for when your baby arrives. I honestly had no clue and still don’t really understand half of the items on my registry. haha Also, I’ve learned not too be afraid to ask for help. Luckily, my mom is close by and my mother in-law will be flying in so I’ll have plenty of hands on deck.

Well that’s it for my Q+A’s! I hope you found this post to be informative and useful! I know so much goes into being pregnant, but it’s honestly such a blessing and one of the most beautiful things in the world!

Stay tuned for more fun posts!
