So today I’m 30 weeks pregnant! I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy has gone. Since this is my 2nd pregnancy, I thought I’d share a more reliable hospital bag blog post coming from experience. The hospital does provide a lot of things for you and they can also give you items to bring home. Here’s a couple pointers to think about:

  • If you’re a minimal person like me, just pack a robe and a going home outfit.
  • If you constantly want to change clothes after labor, bring a couple just in case. Depending on your labor situation, you might be there for a couple of days or maybe just two. I personally didn’t shower while I was there so dry shampoo and scrunchies can be your best friend!
  • For your going home outfit (not the babies, you!), I’d wear something comfortable and a little loose. You’ll still have that belly pudge. Yes it’s weird, and for me I wish I wore something MUCH looser.
  • Keep the skincare/haircare/makeup minimal. Just enough to look descent if you want a couple snaps. No need to bring your curler and all!
  • Make sure to know where to go at the hospital (parking, etc.)! Most hospitals offer tours. (This pregnancy is during COVID times so unfortunately this current option isn’t offered.) Make sure to also pre-register at your hospital too. Most hospitals offer it online!
  • Bag – For me, a bigger bag is better. I don’t like holding a billion things. My Beis luggage is perfect because it can fit all my bulky items such as my pump, nursing pillow, and even my husbands items as well. All-in-one!

Feel free to click the collage to shop these items!

For you:

  • Robe + Nursing Bra: I honestly didn’t wear anything else my whole hospital stay. They constantly check your down there so this was easiest for me. Plus, no one expected you to be dressed up!
  • Eye Mask + Ear Plugs + Hair Ties: I highly recommend at least the Eye Mask and Hair ties! You might not be able to use your ear plugs, but just in case. There’s a lot of beeps and lights in your hospital room plus people are working just outside your room door. I usually like to have my hair up when I’m busy with a baby so I’d bring a couple in case you lose one.
  • Comfy socks + Slippers: The nurses will probably put compression socks on your feet during labor, but obviously that’s preference. I ended up taking them off after and putting comfy soft ones.
  • Breast pump: Obviously this is up to you. Most hospitals might end up giving you one to use while you’re there if you’re having trouble breastfeeding. Pumping will actually just help your milk come in faster so I plan on just bringing mine this time.
  • Minimal beauty products: As I’ve stated earlier, minimal is best! All of these one’s that I have on the collage are minis so it makes it so much easier!
  • Phone Charger

For baby:

  • Going home outfit – a couple different sizes of clothing options: While you’re at the hospital, they will provide clothing for your little one. But everyone likes to have a cute going home outfit! I’d say pack a variety of footies, tops and bottoms, maybe socks from sizes newborn to 3m. You might be surprised how big or small your baby is!
  • Breastfeeding pillow: This was so helpful while I was recovering to have! Just to even hold your newborn with the pillow really helps.
  • For the car- sound machine + light blanket (swaddle) + Carseat: This probably would’ve been helpful for our ride home with our first baby. A sound machine might’ve helped better for him to sleep while we were stuck in traffic! The blanket is just something I would just maybe try to wrap around there legs to partially swaddle (obviously not anywhere close to their face to be safe) I would just leave these in the car, no need to bring inside the hospital.

For dad:

  • Comfy clothes
  • Phone Charger
  • Eye Mask + Earplugs (optional)
  • Socks + Slippers

Moms to be, I hope you found this to be helpful! Feel free to DM me on Instagram if you have any questions.
